WHAT I BROUGHT TO UNI | LUSH EDITION

Hi guys! Sorry for the slight absence in pots at the moment. I’ve recently moved to university and this first week here has been quite hectic! I’m finally settling in and getting used to things, so I thought I’d sit down and write this post. I wanted to share with you what products I took to university with me and also what I don’t recommend bringing.

I’m staying in an en-suite room, so I can have my bathroom just how I like it (with all my shower products neatly lined up!) and this did help me with deciding what to bring with me. I often find I use shower gels the most when I can see them in the shower, as I’m reminded to use them. If I’d been in shared bathroom accommodation (le horror), I’d have had to ferry my products between my room and the bathroom, so I’d probably be less likely to remember to use certain shower gels. I brought Twilight (for relaxing late night/evening showers) and Happy Hippy to help get me ready for lectures in the morning.

Another product which I thought would be essential for uni, especially during Fresher’s Week, was my Tea Tree Water toner (review coming soon). It’s helped to keep my skin clear of any junk-food induced spots and help reduce any redness. Unfortunately, in the rush of packing and moving etc. I forgot my Cupcake fresh face mask (again, I’m in the process of reviewing it!), which was quite annoying, so I’m going to collect it next weekend when I visit home. Cupcake has been helping me with my oily skin, which I’m struggling with quite a lot at the moment. Tea Tree Toner water has been helping but I feel like Cupcake just gives me skin such a boost!

A product that I knew had to come to uni with me was my Solid perfumes! I only have three so I brought all of them with me. I absolutely adore them all and I find them so much more potent than regular perfumes/sprays. They’re super easy to use, very portable for social events etc. and they smell amazing – what more do you want? I’d definitely recommend these for night outs etc. – it’s super easy to top up your scent when you’re not feeling so fresh!

And lastly, one of my favourite products from Lush – Lullaby ! (Find the full review here!) For a student living on not much money, a solid shampoo bar is the perfect product! It lasts for up to three months, so you don’t have to keep buying more shampoo. I’ve found that since being at uni I’ve taken more showers to make up for my lack of a bath, so I’m washing my hair a bit more regularly. I plan on buying a solid conditioner bar as well when I venture into my new local shop!

So, onto the final part of this post – what I don’t recommend taking to university!

1. Obviously, unless you’re incredibly lucky and have a bath, don’t bring bath bombs! Even if you go have a bath, please be very careful of staining, because you will get fined if you damage the tub in any way!
2. If you’re going to bring naked products, make sure you bring a good shower caddy or something that can suction to the wall. There’s limited space in accommodation showers (en-suite OR shared), so make sure you bring extra storage with you. You could even melt down the product into a lush pot to make it easier for you!

Please remember, these are just suggestions! Do what you want to do! This is just what I’ve brought with me and the stuff I wouldn’t bring. I hope you guys enjoyed this post (and maybe even found it useful?)! Look out for more university-themed posts in the upcoming weeks/months!

Thank you all for your support and I’ll be back with another post very soon!

THE BIG SLEEP JELLY BATH BOMB | REVIEW

Here is the first of my promised reviews of some of the newest editions to Lush’s extensive line of products. When the jelly bombs were released I was immediately drawn to The Big Sleep (TBS) as it was said to have a very soothing scent to it, perfect for a bath before bed. It also looked gorgeous with it’s rich blues and moon design.

The scent of TBS is exactly what I was hoping for. It’s very soothing and calming, with Lavender Oil and Chamomile Powder, but it also contains Tonka Absolute, which gives it a really nice vanilla undertone. It’s a perfect scent for those night-time baths after a long, stressful day. The scent is quite strong when you smell the bomb itself, but becomes more muted once it’s in the bath (it does stay on your skin though, which is something I always enjoy from a bath bomb!)

As I mentioned before, this bath bomb looks amazing. The main body of the bomb is a light blue colour and the embellishments (the moon design and “spots”) are a much deeper, richer blue. It produces amazing bath art in the tub, very similar to the type of bath art Frozen often produces. It’s a slow fizzer as well, so it carries on fizzing throughout your bath, which I really love. I always find it makes your bath feel a little more special.

BIG SLEEP - FINAL 1

Once it has been fizzing for a few minutes, the green jelly starts to become visible. A soft layer of foam on top of the water, which I used to moisturise my skin.

The jelly is meant to fully dissolve in your bath once it’s released, but I didn’t find that this happened at all. This would be my only negative point about this bath bomb. I really wish the jelly dissolved better, so you wouldn’t be left with chunks of jelly floating in your bath. It’s not a huge deal, but this stuff is extremely sticky and it’s a little difficult to remove from the sides of the bath tub.

As you can see on my hand, the layer of foamy jelly is quite thin, however there is more obvious chunks of jelly in the bath as well.

I’d say this bath bomb is definitely quite a novelty product, so it’s kind of up to you whether or not you want to spend the £4.95. I did enjoy my experience overall and I definitely would purchase it again, mainly for the scent if I’m being honest! The jelly didn’t really add anything to the bath, as it was mainly the foam that was moisturising.

If you’re not sure about these jelly bombs then I’d suggest asking for a demo in store, hopefully it’ll help you decide if they are something you’d enjoy. Remember, jelly bombs are a new thing and staff aren’t going to be alarmed if you need demos of all of the new bombs!

Hope you enjoyed this review, stay tuned for more reviews of some of the other new products! ❤ Happy Lushing!

SEX BOMB BATH BOMB | REVIEW

Hey everyone! I’m back for another review of a classic Lush product: Sex bomb bath bomb! This is a cute little bath bomb that I’ve never tried before, so I was excited to give it a go! It looks adorable and smells wonderful. I’d never really been drawn to it before, but after discovering it shares some of it’s scent with the Lust Perfume (one of my favs!) I was intrigued and decided to go for it!

The bath bomb itself is pink and purple, with some pastel pink rose “petals” nestled within it. These petals are actually made of rice paper. It turns your bath water a gorgeous pink colour. The rose petals slowly drift across the water, which is a nice touch.

This would be a perfect bath bomb if you were looking to enjoy a bath with your partner (this would be amazing for Valentine’s Day!). Sex Bomb’s main ingredient is Jasmine Absolute, which is known to be quite sensual, as well as adding a floral element to it’s overall scent.

It also contains Clary Sage oil, which is very soothing and relaxing, and Ylang-Ylang oil, which adds a sweet note to the scent. These scents all combine to create an amazing scent! I can’t believe I’ve never tried this one before! I’m definitely going to be repurchasing!

This bath bomb is only £3.75, so it’s one of the cheaper bath products. This would make a great present either for yourself or for that special person in your life! Ask for a demo in store to try before you buy!

I really hoped you enjoyed this review and liked my featured image! I thought I’d change it up a bit! Lots of new exciting posts coming soon, so follow to keep up to date!
